Hi, I’m Mckayla, and I’m going to be a freshman in high school this next year. I passed eighth grade with decent grades, and made some good friends during this past year. Those friends convinced me to try out for my high school’s varsity cheer team.
Skeptical at first, I went to open gyms to learn about stunting, jumps, and extra cheers. I found I loved the environment and absolutely loved the people. The coaches told us at the beginning of tryouts that cheer is expensive and well, they were not wrong!
So, fast forward, I made the cheer team. There was a meeting, where my parents and I figured out that to participate it will cost about 1,000 dollars in all to get started! Pretty expensive if you ask me. Our first fundraiser was selling chocolate bars in the Caldwell area. It just completed and I ended up getting my investment down by $400. I still have a long way to go.
My grandparents have given me the opportunity to sell barn wood to work towards my goal. I have inherited a whole stack of barn wood, and my goal is to sell enough so my parents will not have to pay too much to help me out. There are many things which can be made from this type of wood; picture frames, welcome signs, wall décor, shelves, planter boxes, a table, just about anything you can think of. I did a quick search of the internet and found many easy ideas I would like to share with you.
